Otters Seek First Three Game Sweep of the Season on Saturday

(SAUGET, ILLINOIS) - The Evansville Otters (35-22) complete a six-game roadtrip with the series finale at the Gateway Grizzlies (37-23).

First pitch is set for 7:05 pm CDT at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois.

Fans not going to the game can listen live on WUEV 91.5 FM and WUEV.org . Play by play announcer Tom Benson and color commentator Zane Clodfelter will have the call beginning at 6:45 pm CDT.

It is Mascot Magnet and Can Coolie night at the ballpark.

Right-hander Trevor Walch (3-0, 2.07 ERA) will start for Evansville against Gateway righty Tyler Thompson (3-1, 1.37 ERA).

Evansville is 55-72 all-time against the Gateway Grizzlies. The Otters won two of three from the Grizzlies when Gateway visited Evansville June 11 and 12 this summer. This is the sixth and final meeting between the two teams this season.

The Otters won the series opener 11-3 on Thursday night. Evansville set a new season-high with four home runs. First baseman Nik Balog, left fielder Jeremy Nowak and infielder Josh Allen all homered as part of a four-run second inning. Outfielder Chris Sweeney also hit a three-run home run in the third. It was Sweeney's 11th home run of the season and his third, three run home run this roadtrip. RHP Preston Olson (4-3) threw 6.0 scoreless innings in the game one win.

Evansville also won the next game of the series 10-8 on Friday evening. Outfielder John Schultz, outfielder J.R. Higley and infielder Cory Urquhart all homered in the win. Urquhart went 4-for-5 as Evansville was victorious in the first two games of the series.

The Otters had three players in the Frontier League All-Star game on July 16. 3B Shayne Houck started the contest going 2-for-2. Nik Balog pinch hit and played first base, going 0-for-1 with a walk. Josh Allen finished the night 0-for-2 as a defensive replacement and second baseman.

Outfielder John Schultz is on a seven game hitting streak. Catcher Kolin Conner and infielder Phillip Wilson have all hit safely in six straight games.

The Otters are 16-10 on the road and 5-3 since the All-Star break. Evansville is 4-1 on the current roadtrip.
