Miscue & Mash Send Tribe Packing 5-3

July 26, 2014 - International League (IL1)
Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- Josmil Pinto lifted a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to power the Rochester Red Wings (58-48) to a 5-3 win over the Indianapolis Indians (56-52) on Friday night at Frontier Field.

The Tribe has now dropped five consecutive contests and fallen 1.0 games out of first place in the International League West Division.

Pinto homered with two on and no outs to break a 2-2 tie and touch starter Casey Sadler for his only earned runs of his quality start. The Tribe's right-hander then recovered to finish the inning and depart with five runs (three earned) on eight hits in six innings.

Reliever John Holdzkom worked a scoreless seventh and eighth before the Indians' offense moved the tying run into scoring position in the ninth.

Chase d'Arnaud coaxed a leadoff walk, and after back-to-back Tribe outs, Jose Tabata was plunked by a pitch to bring the potential tying run to the plate in the form of Mel Rojas Jr. The Triple-A rookie Rojas fell behind 1-2 before singling home d'Arnaud and moving into scoring position on an ill-advised throw into third base.

With two on and two outs, Wings closer Michael Tonkin fanned his lone batter to preserve the win and pick up his sixth save.
