Greenville Drive News Release

Lakewood, NJ - Friday night's game between the Greenville Drive (8-27, 42-62) and the Lakewood BlueClaws (13-21, 40-63) zipped along in two hours, 24 minutes, and the BlueClaws sent the home fans happy with a 5-2 victory to clinch a victory of the three-game series.

The BlueClaws manufactured a run in the bottom of the fourth against Trey Ball (1-8) to take a 2-1 lead, as Zach Green smacked a leadoff double, moved to third on a Dylan Cozens groundout and came in to score when Willians Astudillo lifted a sacrifice fly to center. They would add two more runs in the fifth after Andrew Pullin's RBI single and a Drive error.

The Drive had plenty of baserunners against Lakewood starter Yacksel Rios (4-0), but he worked himself out of trouble most of the night and picked up the win. He allowed six hits, five walks and two runs in five and two-third innings with five punchouts.

It only took two batters for the Drive to take a 1-0 lead, as Wendell Rijo deposited a solo homer to left against Rios for his seventh homer of the season, and his third in the past five games.

Lakewood answered back with a run in the bottom half thanks to a Drive error, one of their three defensive miscues.

Carlos Coste drove in the other Drive run on the evening with a bases-loaded walk in the sixth, and the BlueClaws added an insurance run in the seventh on Carlos Tocci's bunt single.

The Drive's road trip continues on Saturday as they begin a four-game series with the Hagerstown Suns at 7:05. RH Teddy Stankiewicz (6-7, 4.30) will start in the opener against Suns RH Wirkin Estevez (0-0, 5.14).
