Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

OREM, UT -- Ryan O'Hearn claimed he had one of the worst batting practices of the season before the opener of the two game series at Orem. Clearly, he saved his solid swings for the game. The Chukars first baseman tallied a home run on the first pitch he saw, en route to a three hit, four RBI performance in a 9-7 Chukars win.

The Chukars (19-17) finally jumped in front early in the contest. Brandon Downes began the game with a leadoff triple, and scored on a single by Corey Toups. Ryan O'Hearn followed with his eighth home run of the season to take a 3-0 lead.

The Greybirds kept the pressure on Alex Robichaux (1-1) in the second inning. Idaho Falls loaded the bases, thanks to two walks and a hit batter. Robichaux had pitched 15 innings without allowing a walk entering tonight's contest. Ryan O'Hearn struck again, this time with a two run single. Michael Hill added another run with a sacrifice fly to put Idaho Falls in control 6-1.

Michael Hill roped a double to left center field to put the Chukars in front 8-2 in the fourth inning. One frame later, Pedro Gonzalez lifted his second home run of the season to increase it to 9-2.

The Greybirds withstood an Orem rally in the sixth inning. The Owlz were finally able to pose a threat against Bryan Brickhouse (1-1), loading the bases. Idaho Falls inserted Zach Lovvorn into the game, and he allowed a grand slam home run to Andrew Daniel. The right-hander would settle down, pitching the rest of the way allowing only two hits while picking up his first save.

Idaho Falls continues the road trip tomorrow, concluding the two game series against Orem. Eric Skoglund is scheduled to pitch for the Chukars.
