El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The Sacramento River Cats scored nine early runs in their 13-2 victory over the El Paso Chihuahuas Thursday night at Southwest University Park. The River Cats chased El Paso starter Billy Buckner from the game with two outs in the second inning, a frame in which Sacramento scored five times on two hits, a Chihuahuas error and five walks.

Recently-optioned pitcher Tommy Milone got the win for Sacramento after throwing six innings and allowing two runs. Two different San Diego Padres played for El Paso on injury rehab Thursday night - shortstop Everth Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a walk and first baseman Yonder Alonso went 1-for-4. Cabrera (hamstring injury) played all nine innings, while Alonso (hand injury) was taken out after the eighth.

El Paso reliever Dennis O'Grady pitched three scoreless innings in the loss. Rocky Gale and Alex Castellanos had two hits each for El Paso, while Cody Decker hit a solo home run to left field in the second inning against Milone.

The Chihuahuas will not play Sacramento (A's affiliate) again this season. El Paso won eight of the 16 meetings between the two teams.
