HARRISBURG, PA---Daniel Norris worked five scoreless innings and the Fisher Cats used two long balls to drop Harrisburg 5-3 in the opener of a four-game series Thursday night at Metro Bank Park.
Andy Burns drilled a 1-1 pitch for his 11th home run to give the Fisher Cats a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Burns homered followed a walk to Derek Chung.
New Hampshire (49-56) extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning on Jon Berti's 6th home run of the season, a solo shot off Harrisburg starter and losing pitcher Zach Kroenke (2-4).
The Fisher Cats added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Andy Fermin reached by a hit-by-pitch and Dalton Pompey followed with a single. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch and Derrick Chung followed with a single to make it 5-0.
Harrisburg (42-62) rallied with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning off reliever Tyler Ybarra. Caleb Ramsey and Matt Skole walked and Kevin Keyes singled to load the bases. Consecutive sacrifice flies by Jason Martinson and Drew Vettelson scored two runs. Cole Leonida singled to make it 5-3 before Gregory Infante finished up the frame by getting Ricky Hague to fly out.
Norris (WP: 2-1) worked the first five innings, allowing no runs on two hits. He did walk four batters and struck out six. Dustin Antolin followed with two scoreless frames. Infante worked a perfect bottom of the ninth inning for his 15th save.
The Fisher Cats play the second game of a seven game roadtrip on Friday night in Harrisburg, Pa. First pitch is at 7 p.m. with righty Casey Lawrence (6-5, 2.94) on the hill for the Fisher Cats. The Fisher Cats return home after the road trip for an epic four-day, five-game homestand with the Reading Fightin Phils.
