Altoona Curve News Release

Bowie, Md. - The Altoona Curve offense collected just five hits in their loss, 9-1, to the Bowie Baysox on Thursday night at Prince George's Stadium. Dan Gamache was the only player in the Curve lineup with a multi-hit game and the third baseman scored Altoona's lone run in the loss.

Bowie used a six-run second inning to take a firm control of the game. With a runner on second, Garabez Rosa lined a single into right field that scored Chris Marrero from second to give the Baysox a 1-0 lead. After Gamache committed a throwing error at third with two outs, the Baysox followed with four straight run-scoring hits to take a 6-0 lead after they sent ten batters to the plate in the frame.

The Baysox tallied another run in the fourth and fifth to take a commanding, 8-0, lead. Niuman Romero hit a sacrifice fly that scored Glynn Davis in the fourth and Ronald Bermudez pulled a home run on the first pitch he saw to lead off the fifth.

The Curve cracked the run column for the first time in the top of the seventh. Gamache tallied his second hit of the game with a double to left and scored when Elias Diaz pulled a single inside the third base bad that made it an 8-1 ballgame. However, Bowie tacked on a run in the seventh to make it 9-1.

Altoona starter Jhonathan Ramos (2-4) suffered the loss after he gave up eight runs (three earned) over five innings of work. Bowie starter Zach Davies (6-6) earned the win after he spun seven innings of one-run ball.

Altoona continues their series with Bowie on Friday night at Prince George's Stadium. LHP Thomas Harlan (0-1, 3.60) will take the bump against All-Star LHP Tim Berry (5-5, 3.65). First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. while pregame on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM, and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

The Curve will return home on Monday, July 28 for a homestand against the Erie SeaWolves and the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Altoona will start off the homestand with postgame fireworks on July 28 & 29.
