Longest Homestand in Zephyrs History Opens Friday

Metairie, LA - The New Orleans Zephyrs open a 13-game homestand, the longest in team history, on Friday at 7 p.m. A four-game series with the defending Triple-A champion Omaha Storm Chasers will be followed by a visit from Manny Ramirez and the Iowa Cubs for five games, then a four-game showdown with the Nashville Sounds, whom the Zephyrs trail by 11/2 games in the division race entering play on Thursday.
The pitching probables for the Omaha series:
Friday 7 PM : LHP Brian Flynn (7-6, 3.92) vs. LHP John Lamb (5-8, 3.68)
Saturday 6 PM : RHP Elih Villanueva (9-6, 3.70) vs. LHP Buddy Baumann (1-1, 1.46)
Sunday 4 PM : LHP Andrew Heaney (3-2, 3.68) vs. RHP Clayton Mortensen (4-2, 3.45)
Monday 7 PM : RHP Brad Penny (1-1, 2.87) vs. LHP Joe Saunders (0-3, 4.21)
Postgame fireworks follow both Friday and Saturday's games, presented by Boomtown Casino. The Z's will celebrate the 10th anniversary of "Napoleon Dynamite" on Friday, while the first 1,000 fans to Saturday's 6 p.m. contest will receive a 2014 Zephyrs baseball card set.
Inflatamanics bring their nationally-renowned act of in-game entertainment to Zephyr Field on Saturday night, which will also include Baseball Bingo, as fans can play along with the action on the field for a chance to win prizes from Treasure Chest Casino. Inflatamanics return for Sunday's 4 p.m. game, when children receive $5 admission and get the chance to run the bases on the field postgame.
The Omaha series concludes on Monday at 7 p.m. with Service Industry Night, offering $1 hot dogs, draft beers and Pepsi products with purchase of a $5 wrist band.
