Stingers Back at the Beehive Tonight and Friday

July 24, 2014 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Willmar Stingers News Release

After a three-day hiatus for the Northwoods League All-Star break, Willmar returns home to Bill Taunton Stadium tonight, July 24, for a two-game series with the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

Tonight is Relay for Life Night presented by the Southern Minnesota Sugar Beet Cooperative, featuring a silent auction of baseball bats signed by the Stingers players, which will be available during the game for bidding. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the American Cancer Society as part of their yearly Relay for Life event.

Friday's finale against Thunder Bay will mark the final time this season the two teams will meet and is Trading Card Night sponsored by the Southwest Initiative Foundation. The first 500 fans into the ballpark will receive a pack of trading cards complete with every Stingers player, coach and the Stingers' mascot, Barry.

As of Thursday morning, tickets for the Stingers first playoff game are now on sale, available online, over the phone, or at the Stingers Ticket Office. The playoff game will either be August 11 or August 12, depending on which team wins the second half of the season in the North Division. Season and six-pack ticket holders will have their seats on hold if they wish to keep their seats for the playoff game.

The Ticket Office is located at 1401 22nd Street Southwest, at the north end of the parking lot next to Bill Taunton Stadium, and the ticket office can be reached by phone at 320-222-2010. Stay up-to-date with Facebook, Twitter, and WillmarStingers.com for more information about the date of the playoff game as it becomes available.

The 2014 season is presented by Charter. For more coverage of the Stingers visit the West Central Tribune's website at www.wctrib.com.
