Today's Game

This afternoon, the Bisons host the Syracuse Chiefs in the second game of a two-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). Syracuse picked up the 5-0 win last night as the Bisons opened up a season-long 10-game homestand. The Herd will host Lehigh Valley for four games starting tomorrow before Indianapolis comes to town on Tuesday.

The Thruway Cup

Syracuse (12-9) took the one-game lead over the Bisons (13-12) in the 2014 Thruway Cup standings. Today's game is the Chiefs final game in Buffalo this year with the Bisons closing out the season with a pair of games at NBT Stadium, August 31-September 1.

Raul Valdes

LHP RAUL VALDES will make his fifth start of the season and his 16th appearance overall. The veteran allowed just two runs in five innings of work last Saturday in Pawtucket, but the Bisons fell in the game, 3-1.Valdes has faced the Chiefs three times in relief this season and has allowed just one hit while striking out nine in eight innings of work.

Busy Herd

RHP RANDY BOONE pitched a shutout inning of relief in his Bisons' debut last night. He was the 58th different player to see game action for the Herd this year. The Bisons had 64 players last season with a modern era record of 69 appearing in games in 2000. The Bisons 182 roster moves this year are just nine shy of 2000's team record of 191.

Kevin Pillar

OF KEVIN PILLAR picked up his 16th stolen base last night, moving him one past Darin Mastroianni for the team lead. It was also Pillar's 98th career stolen base and 24th as a Bison. Pillar is now 5th in the IL with a .314 average and tied for 2nd with 28 doubles.

Kyle Drabek

RHP KYLE DRABEK tossed a pair of shutout innings last night. The righty has now allowed just one run on six hits over his last five relief appearances (7.0 IP). Since being moved to the pen in mid-June, Drabek has posted a 2.25 ERA in eight games (16.0 IP, 13 H, 13 SO).

Bisons Bits

RHP LIAM HENDRIKS needs just 13 more innings for his ERA to have full-season qualification. He currently leads the IL with a 2.40 ERA...The Bisons lead the IL with a .984 fielding pct.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (53-49) rallied to beat the Red Sox, 6-4, last night. Former Bison INF Ryan Goins tied the game with his first career MLB triple before scoring the game-winning run. Aaron Sanchez made his big league debut with two perfect innings and two strikeouts. Toronto hosts Boston at Rogers Centre again this afternoon at 12:37 p.m.
