July 23, 2014 - Frontier League (FL)
Rockford Aviators News Release

LOVES PARK, IL- The Rockford Aviators (26-32) presented by Pearson, scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth but fell short and extended their losing streak to three, as they lost to the River City Rascals (36-21), 9-6.

Josh Slaats got the start for the Aviators. He pitched 5.1 innings, allowing eight hits and six runs.

The Rascals scored in the first inning for the third straight game to take the early 1-0 lead. They pushed two more across the board in the top of third and the Aviators answered in the bottom half.

Tanner Witt hit a solo shot to give the Aviators their first run of the game. The home run by Witt increased his total to three on the year, as well as his second since the All-Star break.

Tommy Mendoza tried to pitch a complete game for the Rascals, but with two outs in the bottom of the ninth the Aviators began to rally back.

Tanner Witt, Michael Hur, and Edgar Corcino all hit RBI singles in the inning. Jeff Kremer hit a RBI double that continued the rally. However, rally would fall short though as five runs in the ninth was not enough.

The Aviators will hit the road to begin their three game series with the Florence Freedom tomorrow night. The game is set to start at 5:35 p.m. central time.

Aviators fans can still follow the team by listening to the broadcast on the Meridix Network. The broadcast will begin at 5:20 p.m. The link for the broadcast can be found at www.rockfordaviators.com.
