SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm is proud to announce that it will host a four-day lacrosse camp in partnership with White Earth Nation from July 28-31 on the White Earth Reservation in Northern Minnesota.

Over 150 boys and girls from White Earth Nation are registered for the camp, which will be held at Mahnomen High School. Camp curriculum will include teachings on lacrosse fundamentals, the history of the sport and classroom sessions on healthy lifestyle choices. Campers will receive lacrosse instruction from Swarm forward Callum Crawford, assistant coach Aime Caines, and Swarm equipment manager and former University of Minnesota Men's Club defenseman Ross Chicantek.

"The White Earth Nation started to reintroduce Baaga'adowewin (lacrosse) to our youth over a year ago," White Earth Chairwoman Erma Vizenor said. "It is moving to see the immediate, strong connection our youth have with this traditional game. Our partnership with the Minnesota Swarm is giving us even more momentum. We are excited to be offering the four-day camp, which will not only strengthen the skills and enthusiasm for the game locally, but strengthen our relationship with the Minnesota Swarm as well."

"We're very grateful for the opportunity to partner with White Earth Nation this summer," Swarm Co-Owner and President Andy Arlotta said. "Since Day One, the Swarm organization has made it a priority to help reintroduce the Creator's Game to all of Minnesota's tribal communities. To have over 150 kids already registered for our inaugural camp is simply amazing, and indicates how much lacrosse means to the White Earth youth and its community members. This camp will not only offer lacrosse instruction from Swarm professionals, but it will also stress healthy lifestyle choices and the importance of community, family and friends. It will be a memorable four days for everyone involved."

Back in January, close to 100 youth from White Earth Nation attended the Swarm's Native American Heritage Night against the Philadelphia Wings at The Hive. Prior to the game, the White Earth youth were taken onto the field for a turf time where Swarm forward Corbyn Tao led basic lacrosse instruction and drills.
