Ogden Raptors News Release

Ogden Raptors designated hitter Justin Chigbogu hit his league-leading 10th home run of the season, but the Raptors fell to the Billings Mustangs 12-3 Tuesday night at Lindquist Field.

Chigbogu hit a solo home run to center field to lead off the fifth inning to take the Pioneer League lead. However, the Raptors trailed at that point 11-3.

During the seven-game homestand, Chigbogu was 13-29 (.448) with six home runs and 13 RBI. The former fourth-round pick upped his batting average 42 points during the homestand to .305.

The Mustangs got on the board in the first inning as Raptors starter Jeff Brigham was hit had early. Cory Thompson singled to left to start the game. Thompson then stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error on catcher Hunter Redman. After Alex Blandino walked, Brian O'Grady hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Thompson. Once Blandino stole second, Aristides Aquino doubled him home. Aquino then stole third and scored on a wild pitch. Taylor Sparks kept the inning going with a triple, scoring on a single from Kevin Franklin's RBI single to put the Mustangs up 4-0.

After Chigbogu brought in Devan Ahart with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the first, the Mustangs added another in the second. Argenis Aldazoro tripled into the right-field corner. Thompson then drove him home with a single to center to extend the Mustangs' lead to 5-1.

Billings scored three more in the third to put the game out of reach. Franklin doubled to start the inning. Two batters and a wild pitch later, Jose Duarte hit a chopper over Ivan Vela's head at third to score Franklin. Aldazoro followed with a two-run home run out to right field, his second of the season, to give the Mustangs an 8-1 lead.

The Raptors will enjoy a day off Wednesday before traveling to Grand Junction for a two-game series, starting Thursday. The Raptors will have lefty Victor Gonzalez on the mound against fellow lefty Harrison Musgrave. Game starts at 7:05 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
