Rockford Aviators News Release

LOVES PARK, IL- The Rockford Aviators (25-31) presented by Pearson, struggled on both offense and defense Tuesday night. The Aviators recorded just as many errors as hits and fell to the River City Rascals (35-21) 9-1.

Kyle Brueggemann got the start for the Aviators. He pitched 6.2 innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out four Rascals.

The Rascals pushed the first runs across the board in the first inning. Saxon Butler hit a sacrifice fly that brought in a run and gave the Rascals a early 1-0 advantage.

The Aviators quickly answered back in the bottom half of the inning. Tanner Witt started the bottom of the inning with a double. After a passed ball he advanced to third, and Michael Hur hit a sacrifice fly that tied the game at one.

The Aviators defense struggled as they made two errors in the seventh inning. The errors extended the inning and helped the Rascals push two runs across the plate to extend their lead to 4-1.

The Aviators would commit their fourth error of the game in the ninth inning, once again extending the inning. The Rascals used the Aviators miscues to their advantage and pushed five more runs across with two outs in the ninth. The Aviators lost 9-1.
