Sacramento Shuts down Chihuahuas Bats in 6-1 Defeat

July 22, 2014 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

Four Sacramento pitchers held the El Paso Chihuahuas without an extra base hit Monday in the River Cats 6-1 win at Southwest University Park. El Paso's lone run came on an RBI single by San Diego first baseman Yonder Alonso, who is with El Paso on an injury rehab assignment working back from a hand injury. Everth Cabrera, also on a rehab assignment, went 1-for-2 before being taken out of the game after a fourth-inning rain delay.

The River Cats scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back, adding two more tallies in the sixth inning and their final run in the eighth. El Paso's offense has the fifth most runs in the Pacific Coast League this season but has struggled offensively lately, scoring one run in the last 20 innings.

El Paso reliever Keyvius Sampson pitched a scoreless seventh inning in the loss. The Chihuahuas have dropped four consecutive games.
