Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

MISSOULA, Mont. - Offense was aplenty at Ogren Park Allegiance Field as the Orem Owlz pulled out a 10-7 victory over the Missoula Osprey in front of 2,542 fans. Missoula banged out nine hits and three home runs, but suffered its second loss in as many days.

Missoula (15-19) saw Trevor Mitsui launch his team-high eighth tater of the year just around the right field pole in the fifth inning. His two-run homer was followed by B.J. Lopez's two-run blast in the eighth inning. The long ball was the first of the season for the Moca, Puerto Rico, native. Dane McFarland also joined the home run party with a solo shot in the ninth inning.

Orem (23-11) didn't dig the long ball but went for a consistent approach with ten runs on fourteen hits including a 7-15 mark with runners in scoring position. Missoula went 0-8 in the same category and stranded nine on the bases, including three in the first inning.

Zach Varela (2-0) picked up the win in relief for Orem with a strikeout in 1.2 innings of hitless action. Starter Angel Guerra went 4.1 innings and gave up three earned runs with three walks and a strikeout.

Missoula hurler Carlos Hernandez dropped his second consecutive decision to fall to 2-2 with four earned runs off nine hits, two walks, and three strikeouts in 4.1 innings. Orem continued to hit against the Missoula bullpen until Lawrence Pardo struck out the side in the ninth inning.

With a seventh inning single, Justin Williams extended his hitting streak to sixteen games.

Missoula ends its seven-game home stretch tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. against the Orem Owlz in the finale of a four-game series. Tickets for all Osprey games are available at the MSO Hub Box Office, by phone at (406) 543-3300 and online at MissoulaOsprey.com.
