Power Walks off Again

(Charleston, WV- July 21, 2014)- The West Virginia Power won in walk-off fashion over the Rome Braves on Monday evening at Appalachian Power Park 9-8. Reese McGuire singled in the 10th to give West Virginia their second walk-off win of the series.
The Braves came storming out of the gates with five runs in the third inning behind RBI base knocks from Sean Godfrey, Tanner Krietemeier and Carlos Franco. Rome tacked on two more in the fourth behind a Victor Caratini two-run blast.
West Virginia would cut into the Braves advantage with a five-run inning in the sixth. Edwin Espinal singled home a run, Erich Weiss doubled in another and Danny Collins hit a two-run home run to cut the lead to two.
The Power were not done, putting two more on the board led by a JaCoby Jones RBI single in the eighth. In the ninth an error on a throw to the plate scored Reese McGuire to send the game to extra innings.
In the tenth, West Virginia loaded the bases for Reese McGuire. The catcher singled to right field to score JaCoby Jones and give West Virginia the walk-off victory.
Clario Perez (3-1) earned the win while Matt Kimbrel (0-2) was charged with his second loss of the series.
West Virginia visits the Hickory Crawdads on Wednesday, July 23, at L.P. Frans Stadium. Luis Heredia will toe the rubber against the Crawdads Ricardo Rodriguez.
