Shades to Compete in 21st Annual Mascot Games this Weekend

Orlando, FL - Shades, the Orlando Solar Bears Mascot, will compete in the Mascot Games and participate in surrounding events from on Thursday, July 24, through Saturday, July 26. The Solar Bears are one of many corporate partners supporting the annual 'Games' and their host charity New Hope for Kids.

The Orlando Solar Bears will host and be joined at the Games by families and children from a number of their community partners including: the American Heart Association, Christian Service Center, Epilepsy Association of Central Florida, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Diabetes Association, Community Food & Outreach Center, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, Parramore Kidz Zone, and Boy Scouts of America Central Florida Council.

The events kick off with a pair of community events on Thursday, July 24, when Shades, and other mascots participating in the games, will visit Florida Hospital. That evening, the mascots will attend a dinner benefiting New Hope for Kids at their brand new location located in Maitland.

On Friday, July 25, fans can show off their hockey skills at the Solar Bears Slap Shot Cage during the Community Fest on Church Street starting at 10:00 a.m. Following the Community Fest, the Mascot Games begin at the Amway Center at 12:30 p.m. A second round of games will then be held at the Amway Center on Saturday, July 26, starting at 2:00 p.m.

About New Hope for Kids:

Since 1996, New Hope for Kids has been helping Central Florida children in need. Our purpose is to bring hope, healing and happiness to children and families suffering from grief, loss or life-threatening illnesses. New Hope for Kids achieves this through the Center for Grieving Children, which helps children and families cope with the feelings of grief and loss after the death of a loved one, and Children's Wish, which grants wishes to children, ages 3-18, diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
