Sky Sox Announce Star Trek Night 2014
July 21, 2014 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Star Trek Night is back at Security Service Field, and it's better than ever. The Sky Sox' second theme night of the season will take place during the Saturday, July 26th doubleheader against Round Rock, and will feature a special guest - Walter Koenig of the original "Star Trek" series. The first pitch for the first game is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
Koenig joined the cast of "Star Trek" during the second season as the original 'Mr. Chekov', and played the same role for the first seven feature films. Not only will Koenig be signing autographs for fans, he will also be taking part in the storyline throughout the game that will build up to one of the most exciting firework displays this season.
"Having somebody like Walter Koenig, who has been a central part of making Star Trek what it is, gives an enhanced excitement to our theme nights we've never had before," said Jon Eddy, the Sky Sox director of Marketing and Promotions. "After such a strong response from the community following last year's Star Trek Night for SkyFest, we decided to go bigger and better in year two. With Walter Koenig reprising his role of Mr. Chekov in our story line, and breaking new ground with our post-game pyrotechnics, the fans are going to be treated to a show like they've never seen before at a baseball game."
Fans can purchase tickets online at www.skysox.com, over the phone at (719) 591-SOXX, or in person at the Sky Sox box office. Tickets for the day are good for both games of the double header. Come out and enjoy a night at the ballpark, and experience an event like no other!
