Aces Win Rain-Shortened Finale over Rainiers

Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev. - The Aces scored seven unanswered runs and topped the Tacoma Rainiers, 7-4, in the rain-shortened series finale Sunday night at Aces Ballpark.
Sloppy defense by the Aces led to a four-run first inning for Tacoma. Armed with a 1-0 lead, clean-up batter Jesus Montero sent a single to right-field that Roger Kieschnick bobbled, allowing Ji-Man Choi to score after he had stopped at third base.
After Bo Schultz walked Ty Kelly to put runners at first and second, Xavier Avery hit a ball off the glove of third baseman Andy Marte. It caromed into left-field, allowing Montero and Kelly to come around and score. The throw from Bobby Wilson back to third caught Avery in time for the final out of the inning.
The comeback started immediately when Garrett Weber and Danny Dorn singled to start the bottom of the first. Weber's single extended his hitting streak to ten games.
Rainiers starter Matt Palmer came back to retire Roger Kieschnick and Alfredo Marte, but Andy Marte came through with a two-out, two-run single to cut the deficit in half at 4-2.
More two-out magic came to fruition in the third when Danny Dorn launched a high drive off the wall in right-center to score Weber from first.
In the third, Bobby Wilson sent a two-out double down the left-field line. The two-bagger scored Andy Marte and Mike Freeman to put the Aces on top at 5-4.
Andy Marte's third hit of the night came in the fourth inning, after Palmer issued walks to Dorn and Kieschnick. Dorn scored to give the Aces a 6-4 lead, and Kieschnick scored a batter later when Mike Jacobs hit a sacrifice fly.
Schultz settled in, keeping the Rainiers off the scoreboard for the rest of the night. He worked all seven innings to earn the first complete game by a Reno pitcher this year.
The Aces' win, coupled with Sacramento's loss, trimmed the River Cats' lead to 3.5 games in the Pacific Northern division.
The Aces travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Bees in the first of a four-game series Monday night. Right-hander Mike Bolsinger (5-1, 2.73) starts for Reno against right-hander Chris Volstad (2014 debut) for Salt Lake. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PST.
