Zephyrs Fall in Omaha 9-2, Fall Short of Sweep

Papillion, Nebraska - Pedro Ciriaco picked up three hits including a three run home run and drove home five runs as the Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 9-2 on Sunday. The win snapped a four game win streak for the Zephyrs and Omaha salvaged a game in the four game set.

John Lamb (5-8) silenced the Zephyrs bats working six shut-out innings and allowed two hits to earn the win.

Justin Maxwell got his first of four hits in the second inning. It was a two out single and scored on a Brian Bocock RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.

The Omaha offense put four runs one the board in the fourth inning to storm ahead 5-0. Ciriaco's three run home run capped the inning. Adam Conley (3-5) took the loss working four and two third innings allowing six runs on eight hits.

The Z's have won nine of 12 against Omaha this season. New Orleans falls to a game back of first place Nashville.

GAME NOTES

The Miami Marlins promoted Anthony DeSclafani from the Z's. Ed Lucas was optioned and is expected to join the Z's along with Justin Bour on Monday. The Z's activated Chaz Roe from the disabled list. The Z's Mark Canha extended his on base streak to 29 consecutive games, tied for third longest in PCL this season. The Zephyrs are tops in the PCL with home runs since June 1st hitting 64.

ON DECK

The Zephyrs continue the eight game road-trip on Monday in Des Moines. The Zephyrs and Iowa Cubs open up a four game series (7:05) at Principal Park.
