Royals Agree to Terms with Forward Adam Hughesman

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Adam Hughesman. He is the seventh player announced as signed by the Royals to an ECHL Standard Players Contract for the 2014-15 season, joining forwards Kyle Bodie, Ryan Cruthers, Domenic Monardo, Kevin Walrod and Sean Wiles and defenseman Bryant Molle. Consistent with team policy, terms of the SPC were not released.

Last season, Hughesman (5'11/188) (23), who hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba, led the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL with twenty-one goals, twenty-four assists and forty-five points (21g-24a45pts) in sixty-one games. Hughesman, who bagged a pair of game winners, racked up a team leading eighteen of his points (6g-12a) while the Wranglers were playing with the man advantage. In the latter stages of the season, Hughesman put together an explosive week, during which he piled on seven points (3g-4a) over a span of three games to earn the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week Award (March 3 - 9, 2014). That week, he picked up a pair of assists in a 5-3 win over the Idaho Steelheads and followed up by scoring a pair of goals-including the game winner-in a 4-2 win over the Steelheads. He finished the week with a three point game (1g-2a) in Idaho. Hughesman played in two of the Wranglers' playoff games without registering any points against the eventual Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces.

Hughesman, who will be entering his third year of pro, began his career by registering thirty-one points (18g-13a) and fifty-six penalty minutes in sixty-eight games for the Wranglers. Prior to turning pro, Hughesman played six straight seasons of major junior with the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League. His numbers got progressively better each year during his major junior career which was capped off with a magical final season, during which he racked up fifty goals and 116 points (50g-66a-116pts) in seventy-two games for the Americans. For his efforts that season, Hughesman was selected a Second Team Western Conference All-Star.

Over the course of his time in the Tri-Cities, Hughesman recorded 350 points (140g-210a) and 209 penalty minutes in 338 career games with the Americans. But Hughesman may have had his biggest impact in the community off the ice, earning a 'Key to City' from the mayor in Kennewick, Washington at the conclusion of his career for his participation in community events and volunteer efforts. In fact, this past spring, the community of Kennewick bestowed the first annual "Hughesman Award" which includes a scholarship and is given to an individual in Benton and/or Franklin County, Washington who demonstrates community involvement and volunteerism.
