Seven Outlaws Win Gold at 2014 Fil World Lacrosse Championship

July 19, 2014 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Denver Outlaws News Release

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Seven Denver Outlaws won gold at the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships Saturday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.

Curtis Dickson of Team Canada earned All-World honors on attack in recognition of his 18 goals and four assists throughout the tournament.

Dickson, Cam Flint, Zack Greer, Cam Holding, Jeremy Noble, Dillon Roy, and John Grant Jr. (coach) competed for the victorious Team Canada, while Jesse Schwartzman and Lee Zink competed for Team USA.

Schwartzman got the start in goal for the Americans, but the Canadians took control of the game early and never let up. The third quarter saw a lot of Outlaws action, with a Curtis Dickson goal and an Outlaw-to-Outlaw goal by Cam Holding on an assist by Jeremy Noble in the final seconds of the third quarter.

Cam Flint continued the Outlaws offense for Team Canada early in the fourth quarter when he added an assist, extending Canada's lead to 8-2.

Team USA scored three fourth-quarter goals to close out the game, but it wasn't enough and Canada earned an 8-5 win for the gold. Schwartzman finished the night with four saves for Team USA.

The Denver Outlaws tied with Rochester and Chesapeake for the most players (8) on rosters for 2014 Worlds. If you factor in John Grant Jr. coaching for Team Canada, the Outlaws led the MLL for most players involved in Worlds, with nine.

A record 38 nations competed in the FIL World Championships in Denver, and it is the first time the event has been held in the United States since 1998 when Baltimore hosted the international event.

The Denver Outlaws return to for their last home game of the season tomorrow against the Florida Launch on at 1:00 p.m. MDT.
