THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia fell in walk-off fashion to the Hagerstown Suns on Thursday at Municipal Stadium 3-2. The Suns raced out to the 2-0 lead in the second when John Wooten blasted a two-run home run. The Power knotted the game at a pair each in the sixth when Chris Diaz singled home Danny Collins and Reese McGuire. Hagerstown, however, would take the victory in the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off error on West Virginia plating James Yezzo that also sealed a Suns series win. Isaac Sanchez was charged with the loss while Sam Johns vultured the win. Danny Collins notched a three-hit performance in the loss.

NUMBER ONE WITH A BULLET: JaCoby Jones home run on Wednesday was his 15th of the season, placing the shortstop in a tie for tenth most in a single West Virginia Power season. Three players have hit sixteen in a season: Alen Hanson, Jose Osuna and Gregory Polanco in 2012. Only two players have hit 20 or more home runs in any season single Charleston-based teams joined the SAL in 1987 (Stephen Chapman (24) and Jason Parsons (20)).

ITS BEEN A WHILE: Tonight will mark the first time since 2010 that the Rome Braves have paid a visit to Appalachian Power Park. The last time Rome was in Charleston was a four-game set from August 30 to September 2 in 2010 that saw the Power take three of four from the Braves. West Virginia took the only series between the two in 2014 2-1 and the Power hold the all-time series lead at 16-15. At Appalachian Power Park, West Virginia is 8-4 all-time against the Braves.

SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY: The West Virginia Power will play just their 11th game against a Southern division opponent at Appalachian Power Park tonight. The last time the Power hosted a cross-divisional showdown was from May 7 to May 9 when West Virginia was swept by Savannah. At home against the Southern division, the Power are 3-7 and 10-17 overall as opposed to 8-26 at home against the Northern division and 23-46 overall. 10 of the Power's 24 home games remaining are against Southern division opponents.

HIT BATTERS: West Virginia Power piching has plunked 65 batters this season, the most of any team in the South Atlantic League. The Power hit 100 batters in 2013.

STREAK SNAPPED: JaCoby Jones' hitting streak was ended at 17 straight games last night. The shortstop's streak is the third longest by a Power player this season, trailing only injured teammate Harold Ramirez (23 straight) and Reese McGuire (19).

BORDEN HONORED: Right-hander Buddy Borden was named as the South Atlantic League's Pitcher-of-the-Week for his efforts from July 7 through 13. The starter went 2-0 with a spotless 0.00 ERA over two starts spanning 11 and two-thirds innings. It is the second straight week that a Power player has been honored by the league.

PROMO UPDATE- JULY 19: The Power battle the Rome Braves on Saturday, July 19 at Appalachian Power Park for Wrestling Night. Wrestler Mick Foley will be in attendance and the first 1,000 fans receive a beach towel commemorating the tenth season of West Virginia Power baseball at Appalachian Power Park.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia has 24 home games and 20 on the road remaining on the schedule this season. West Virginia will appear at Appalachian Power Park 19 times in August, where they are now 11-33 in 2014... Cody Dickson is now 3-0 with a 1.88 earned run average during the second half of the 2014 season.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: The Pittsburgh Pirates host Colorado tonight at PNC Park in the first game back after the All-Star break. Francisco Liriano will start for the Buccos against Jorge De La Rosa... Indianapolis blanked Columbus 1-0 keyed by eight scoreless innings from Brandon Cumpton... Altoona fell to Bowie 8-6. Mike Yastrzemski went 4-for-5 with a triple in the Baysox win... Bradenton split a doubleheader with Clearwater, winning 7-2 and falling 7-4...Jamestown bested Brooklyn 8-6 in 10 innings. Erik Lunde and Carl Anderson drove in the winning runs in the 10th.
