Today's Game
Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons play the Pawtucket Red Sox in the second game of a four-game series at McCoy Stadium (7:05 p.m.). Buffalo is on a four-game losing streak after last night's loss, and find themselves under the .500-mark (48-49) for the first time since June 21.
vs. the Red Sox
Buffalo fell behind in the season series (4-5) last night, but can even the record tonight. Despite a .444 winning pct. (64-80) at McCoy Stadium, the Herd has a slight edge over the Red Sox in the modern era (144-141). The Bisons will host Pawtucket at Coca-Cola Field, August 23-28.
Esmil Rogers
RHP ESMIL ROGERS will take the mound for his seventh start as a Bison this season. The righty pitched his longest outing of the season his last time on the hill, working through 7.2 innings on July 8th at Rochester (6 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 4 SO). Since becoming a part of the rotation, Rogers is 1-1 and has posted a 3.04 ERA over 26.2 innings.
Pillar of Strength
OF KEVIN PILLAR went 1-for-4 last night, extending his current hit streak to six games. The hit was Pillar's 25th double of the season, tying him for 5th in the IL. The slugger is also places seventh in the league in batting average (.311).
Rob Rasmussen
LHP ROB RASMUSSEN made his 24th appearance for the Herd last night and dealt a perfect inning with two strikeouts. In his last three games, the southpaw has pitched four perfect innings while also striking out eight batters.
Wallace Acquired
On Monday, the Blue Jays acquired INF BRETT WALLACE in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles. Wallace hit .265 (90-339) with 12 doubles, 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 90 games with Norfolk this year. The slugger hit 24 homers between Houston and Okla. City (AAA) in 2013.
Bisons Bits
RHP AARON SANCHEZ made his first relief appearance with the Bisons last night. The reliever allowed an earned run in one inning in the loss. He struck out two batters...The Bisons have an even run differential, having scored and allowed 388 runs. That's exactly 4.0 runs per game over the first 97 contests.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (49-47) end their break tonight as they host the Texas Rangers for the opener of a three-game series. Toronto is currently four games behind Baltimore in the AL East, and 2.5 games behind Seattle for the Wild Card.
