Kitchener drops 18 on Hamilton in win / London and Burlington suspended due to darkness.

Tanner Nivins launched a leadoff home run for the Kitchener Panthers Thursday night which set the tone for the rest of the game. By the end of the first inning the score was 5-0 and the Panthers continued to pile up runs all night finishing with an 18-7 thrashing of the Hamilton Cardinals.

Offence dominated the game and it seemed like every Panther player was getting in on the fun. David Whiteside smashed his seventh home run of the year in the fourth inning, a solo shot. Whiteside finished with five hits in five plate appearances including the home run and a double along with three RBI and three runs scored. Nivens hit his second home run of the night in the seventh to put the Panthers up 15-7. Sean Reilly continued his phenomenal season with three hits including his league leading 15th home run of the season. He is now the leader in all three triple crown categories. He also leads the league with a .407 batting average and 41 RBI. Mike Andrulis and Jeff Pietraszko each drove in four runs.

Hamilton's Andris Rizquez hit his first home run of the season and drove in two runs. Teammate Cam Wilkie had a pair of hits, scored a run and drove in another.

Kitchener's Matt Vickers earned the win in relief throwing three scoreless innings and threw 23 of his 40 pitches for strikes. Kyle Adoranti took the loss after going 4 2/3 innings and surrendering 12 runs. He gave up 12 hits and two walks while striking out four.

The Panthers climbed to .500 with the win at 16-16. The Cardinals slip to 9-19 on the season. Kitchener next plays Saturday afternoon when they travel to Burlington to take on the Bandits. Hamilton next sees action Friday when they host the Bandits.

London and Burlington's game was suspended due to darkness with London leading 14-6.
