Chihuahuas get past Fresno

July 18, 2014 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas scored five early runs in their 7-6 win over the Fresno Grizzlies Thursday night at Chukchansi Park. One day after playing in the Triple-A All-Star Game, Jonathan Galvez went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs. Cody Decker went 3-for-5 with an RBI in the win.

The Chihuahuas took advantage of a two-out mistake by Fresno in the second, scoring four times after Nick Noonan's throwing error extended the inning. Fresno was down 5-1 after three innings but came back with two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth to go ahead of the Chihuahuas. El Paso wasn't down for long, just one half inning after falling behind, the Chihuahuas scored two runs on a game-tying single by Tyler Greene and a go-ahead single by Decker.

El Paso starter Matt Wisler allowed six runs in 5.2 innings in a no-decision. With a win tomorrow, the Chihuahuas would reach .500 for the first time since April 15th. The Chihuahuas are now 16-13 in one-run games.

Next Game: Friday, 8:05 pm (El Paso time) at Chukchansi Park in Fresno. El Paso LHP Jason Lane (5-7, 4.98) vs. LHP Jose De Paula (3-3, 4.15). Game coverage begins at 8:00 pm on Team 600 ESPN El Paso and www.epchihuahuas.com.
