Fort Wayne Wins Third Straight

Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Don't look now, but the TinCaps have won three games in a row and four of their last five. On the heels of a 13-game losing streak, Fort Wayne's bats have broken loose. That was the case again on Thursday night at Quad Cities, as the TinCaps beat the River Bandits, 7-4, with three home runs.
Adolfo Reina hit solo home runs to lead off both the top of the second and eighth innings, and Franmil Reyes blasted a three-run homer in the third. Reina, who was acquired by the Padres from the Tigers during the offseason in the Rule 5 Draft, now has six longballs in 36 games. His shot in the second to give Fort Wayne (9-17, 39-56) a 2-0 lead one-hopped off Modern Woodmen Park's Ferris wheel past the left-field fence. Reina is the first Summit City player to homer twice in a game since Gabriel Quintana did so on August 15, 2013.
Meanwhile, for Reyes, it was his eighth home run of the season and his second in the last four games. That made it 5-0.
For the second night in a row, Trea Turner and Dustin Peterson got the TinCaps on the board before an out was recorded. An evening after he led the game off with a double, Turner started Thursday with a triple against Andrew Thurman (4-6), who left after four. Peterson plated the Padres' 2014 first round pick with a sacrifice fly to give the visitors a quick 1-0 lead.
TinCaps starter Yimmi Brasoban (1-4) had his most effective outing of the year. He scattered five hits and a walk over five innings. Quad Cities (12-14, 47-48) struck for three runs in the bottom of the fourth, but only one was earned.
Josh Richardson pitched two innings of relief, surrendering only one hit -- a Chase McDonald two-out homer in the sixth that made things interesting at 5-4. Fort Wayne added insurance in the eighth with Reina's second homer and when Ronnie Richardson doubled and later scored.
Ryan Butler worked two scoreless innings for the save -- his first with the TinCaps since joining the team on Saturday. The setting for Butler's save was significant, too. His father, Michael, called Modern Woodmen Park home during the 1985 season he was a left-handed pitcher in the Angels' organization and the facility was known as John O'Donnell Stadium.
Fort Wayne seeks its first sweep on the road this season Friday night at 8:00 p.m. at Quad Cities. Cody Hebner will take the ball for the TinCaps against Jandel Gustave. The contest can be heard on ESPN Radio 1380 and TinCaps.com.
