(Hagerstown, MD- July 16, 2014)- The West Virginia Power knocked off the Hagerstown Suns 6-1 at Municipal Stadium on Wednesday night. Jacoby Jones hit a solo home run in the top of the first to set the tone for the Power as they beat the Suns for the first time in six tries this season.

Jones staked West Virginia to the early lead with his 15th home run this season while also extending his hitting streak to 17 consecutive games. The Power added a run on a pair of doubles in the third inning and took a 3-0 lead on a run scoring single in the top of the fifth.

After Hagerstown plated a run off West Virginia starter Cody Dickson in the bottom of the fifth, the Power added three more between the sixth and seventh innings. Danny Collins singled in Reese McGuire in the sixth for a 4-1 lead. In the seventh, West Virginia loaded the bases with no one out and Edwin Espinal doubled in a pair.

Dickson (5-8) worked six innings in his fifth quality start of the season, striking out five and walking two. Hector Silvestre (5-7) took the loss after allowing the first three Power runs over five innings of work. Five different West Virginia players had two hits apiece while Jones and Espinal drove in two runs each. Danny Collins and Michael Fransoso also drove in runs in the victory.

The Power and Suns close this three game series on Thursday evening at Municipal Stadium. Luis Heredia will start for West Virginia against Hagerstown's Nick Pivetta.
