While making their way to the popular Nissan Street Party which kicks off at 2:00 pm on Terry Fox Plaza, fans are asked to support the Purolator Tackle Hunger program by bringing cash or a non-perishable food item for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society and Surrey Food Bank as volunteers including wives, girlfriends and family members of the BC Lions will be stationed at Gates A and H ready to help collect donations. In return for their donation, fans will have an opportunity to take a picture with the Grey Cup.

To celebrate one of British Columbia's most historic professional sports championship wins, the Lions are pleased to induct the 1994 BC Lions onto the Wall of Fame during halftime of Saturday's game. Fans of the Leos won't soon forget the thrilling playoff run of the 1994 squad that culminated in an emotional come-from-behind Grey Cup win over the Baltimore Stallions in front of a sold-out BC Place.

Game Overview

After back-to-back road games, the Lions (1-2) return home to take on Chad Johnson and the Montreal Alouettes (1-2) in a pivotal game for both clubs.

Despite dropping their home opener against Edmonton on June 28th and a disappointing result the next week in Montreal versus the Alouettes, the Lions responded with a remarkable team effort this past weekend notching a hard-fought 29-13 win over the reigning Grey Cup champion Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Outstanding offensive performances by Andrew Harris (138 rushing yards) and Kevin Glenn combined with key defensive efforts from Adam Bighill and Solomon Elimimian (seven defensive tackles each) put the Lions in the win column for the first time in 2014.

The Lions now look for a measure of revenge versus the Als who want to bounce back from a last-minute home loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday night. Newcomer Chad Johnson notched his first touchdown of the year in the one-point thriller as he and former Heisman Trophy winner and Ohio State star Troy Smith make their only regular season trip to BC Place this season.

The Lions have enjoyed a significant advantage at home over their East Division rivals picking up 12 wins over the past 13 meetings dating back to 2001. The club also continues to be one of the most dominant home squads in the CFL with a remarkable 20-3 regular season record at BC Place since returning to their renovated digs in 2011.

There's no better way to enjoy summer than Lions football and two of the best ways to take in the action are the Global BC Family Zone ($30 including free hotdog and small pop) and the Gemstone Gridiron Deck ($30). Both sections are on sale now - visit ticketmaster.ca or call 604.589.ROAR for more information.
