Sky Blue FC president and general manager Tony Novo, players and staff joined NASDAQ OMX Senior Executive David Wicks for the NASDAQ Opening Bell ceremony on Friday, July 11 at the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square.

"On behalf of everyone at Sky Blue FC, we would like to thank NASDAQ for giving us the opportunity to ring the Opening Bell," Novo said. "As the only professional women's soccer team in the New York/New Jersey market, we are honored to have been included in this special ceremony and to have our club associated with some of the biggest organizations in the world."

The NASDAQ Opening Bell ceremony began with remarks from Wicks and Novo followed by Wicks presenting an Opening Bell Crystal commemorative gift to Sky Blue FC. The New Jersey club players and staff, as well as staff members from Meridian Health, then joined Novo on stage for the countdown before ringing the Opening Bell at 9:30 a.m. ET.

"With all the attention that was focused on the men's World Cup, we were excited to have this opportunity to generate enthusiasm and interest for our female players, who are among not only the best in the United States, but are some of the best players in the world," Novo said.

The ceremony was broadcast live on major news networks, including CNBC, Bloomberg TV and FOX Business, and streamed live online via the MarketSite webcam.

"Through this event, we exposed Sky Blue FC's brand to a national and global audience," Sky Blue FC owner Philip Murphy said. "We hope that being a part of the opening bell ceremony will help raise awareness for our club, as well as for the National Women's Soccer League."
