Birmingham Barons News Release

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons dropped game four of their five game series against the Jackson Generals by a score of 8-3 at GeneralsPark in Jackson, Tennessee.

Jeremy Farrell put the Barons ahead first with an RBI single in the second inning scoring Kevan Smith from second base against Jackson starter Tyler Pike (2-1, 3.20). However, the lead would be short lived as the Generals responded with four runs against Barons starter Myles Jaye (1-8, 6.63) on RBI doubles by Brock Hebert and Ketel Marte, putting them ahead 4-1 after two innings.

A Dan Black sacrifice fly in the third inning cut the lead to 4-2 but another big inning by the Generals in the fifth had the Barons staring at a 7-2 deficit. Patrick Kivlehan started the scoring with a sacrifice fly scoring Leon Landry from third base. Daniel Paolini followed with a two-run homer knocking Jayefrom the game. Jaye allowed all seven runs on nine hits over 4.2 IP while picking up his eighth loss of the season.

Rangel Ravelo's RBI single in the eighth cut the Generals lead to 8-3 and the Barons looked poised for a big inning, loading the bases with no outs against reliever Cam Hobson. However, Mayckol Guaipe replaced Hobson and escaped further damage, inducing a Josh Richmond flyout to Julop Morbon in right field that turned into a double play when Morbon threw out Dan Black at home plate.

INF Chris Curley and OF Jared Mitchell each finished with two hits apiece for the Barons who fell to 41-52 and 12-11 in the second half while the Generals improved to 41-52 and 10-14 in the second half. The Barons will look to salvage the series finale tomorrow night as LHP Scott Snodgress (5-7, 4.21) takes the hill against RHP Matt Anderson (3-3, 4.37).First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CDT.
