Sioux City Explorers News Release

Sioux City, IA-The Explorers home losing streak reached six games after an 11-3 loss to Fargo-Moorhead Saturday night at Lewis & Clark Park.

The RedHawks (27-28) started fast for a second straight night, as two runs came across in the top of the first. Like Friday night, Ronnie Bourquin led off the game with a walk. Sawyer Carroll followed with a two-run home run to deep right-center field.

Sioux City (23-32) had an answer for the RedHawks in the bottom of the first. With one out, Michael Lang walked. Rene Tosoni singled on a line-drive into center field. Andres Perez followed with a walk to load the bases. Peter Barrows then sent a deep fly ball to center that was caught at the warning track. Lang tagged from third on the play for the first run. A single to left by Amos Ramon brought home Tosoni for a 2-2 tie.

Fargo-Moorhead did not let up in the second. Brandon Tripp led off the inning with a walk. Petey Paramore singled to right. Dusty Robinson then doubled to left-center and Tripp scored for a 3-2 lead. Another walk to Zach Penprase loaded the bases. The biggest blow of the night was delivered by Ronnie Bourquin, as he belted a grand-slam over the right-field wall for a 7-2 cushion.

The RedHawks added three more runs in the fourth, one of which came on a solo home run to right by Sawyer Carroll for his second dinger of the night. Fargo-Moorhead pushed their final run of the evening across in the fifth. The Explorers plated a meaningless sixth-inning run that capped the scoring.

On the mound, Brian Ernst posted the win for the RedHawks. Ernst (4-4) lasted six innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and five walks. For Sioux City, Alex Pagano suffered the loss in his first home start of the season. Pagano (0-1) went just one inning and gave up seven earned runs on four hits with three walks. Justin Erasmus worked the final three innings in relief to post his second save.

At the plate, six different Fargo-Moorhead batters all collected two hits as the team banged out fifteen base hits. Sawyer Carroll had the two homers with two runs scored and three RBIs. Petey Paramore also drove in two and scored a run. Ronnie Bourquin had four RBIs with the slam and two runs scored. For the Explorers, Amos Ramon finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
