Danville Otterbots News Release

DANVILLE, VA - The D-Braves managed to rally in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game at four in Pulaski Friday night. Alejandro Piloto would follow up in the top of the 11th with a solo homerun to send the Braves back to Danville with a 5-4 victory on their belt, and having won two out of the last three against the Mariners.

With the recent roster transactions involving every day players such as Sean Godfrey and Tanner Kreitemeier moving up to Rome, center fielder Justin Black took over in the field and the in leadoff spot in the lineup for Godfrey Friday night, serving as the catalyst to the offense.

Justin Black came up to bat in the top of the ninth with the score 4-3 Pulaski, and two out. Black popped way up to left field, however Alexy Palma could not make the catch, allowing it to drop while Black rounded the bases all the way to third. Yeudi Grullon stepped to the plate next and knocked him home with a line drive single, tying the game at four. Palma's costly error would give Danville's Alejandro Piloto the opportunity to hit his second home run of the season, and give Danville the victory.

Black would finish 2-5 on the night, with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk. Black also stole his D-Braves leading fifth base of the season, after taking two last night. Black, Grullon, and Jordan Edgerton, the one, two, and three hitters in the lineup, went a combined 5-15 with two runs, four RBI, a walk, and three strikeouts. Black, Grullon, and Edgerton each have a batting average of over .300 on the season, with Edgerton leading the D-Braves at .368.

Danville (13-8) will resume action Saturday night as they play host to the Elizabethton Twins (14-8) at American Legion Post 325 Field in Danville, as Daniel Cordero (1-2, 4.29 ERA, 22 K) will make his fifth start of the season, and looks to cool off the red hot bats of the Twins. The game will feature Jake the Diamond Dog at the ball park, and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
