Reno Aces News Release

RENO, Nev. - Aces alum Brandon Allen had a big night for the 51s Thursday night with a home run, a double and five RBIs in Las Vegas' 9-4 win at Aces Ballpark.

Allen, the all-time home run leader for Reno, finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

Juan Centeno's RBI single in the second drove in Allen to start the scoring. Allen drove a pair of unearned runs on a two-out, two-RBI double in the third, and crushed a three-run homer in the fifth as part of a four-run Las Vegas rally.

The Aces answered the 51s' rally with four two-out runs in the bottom of the fifth as Andy Marte singled in a pair, and Mike Jacobs doubled in two more.

Las Vegas got two runs back in the sixth on a sacrifice fly and a balk. As Matt den Dekker attempted to steal home, a balk was called on Aces reliever Kameron Loe, allowing den Dekker to cross the plate unchallenged.

Reno squandered several opportunities to score, but failed to cash in outside of the fifth inning. In all, the Aces stranded nine baserunners, and hit just 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position on the night.

51s reliever Gonzalez Germen picked up the win with two scoreless innings in relief, striking out five. Bo Schultz (7-6) gave up seven runs (five earned) through 4 2/3 innings in the loss for Reno. Las Vegas' Tyler Pill (0-0) took a no-decision in his first Triple-A start, giving up four earned runs through 4 2/3 innings.

The Aces travel to Sacramento to take on the first-place River Cats in a three-game series beginning tomorrow night. Right-hander Lucas Harrell (4-2, 5.45 ERA) takes the hill for Reno. Sacramento has yet to announce their Friday night starter. Single-game tickets and ticket plans are on sale for the remainder of the 2014 season.
