Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

(York, PA) - The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the York Revolution 4-2 on Thursday evening at Santander Stadium.

Bridgeport started off the night with a solo home run by right fielder Prentice Redman in the top of the first inning and extended their lead to 2-0 in the top of the second inning on a Juan Martinez RBI double, scoring catcher Luis Rodriguez. Bridgeport saw their lead grow to 3-0 in the top of the fifth inning as designated hitter J.R. Towles hit a two-out RBI single.

Play would be halted in the middle of the fifth inning due to weather in the area but after an hour and 52-minute rain delay, play resumed at Santander Stadium. York picked up a run in the bottom of the sixth inning on right fielder Justin Greene's RBI sacrifice fly but the 'Fish would restore their three-run lead in the top of the seventh inning when Redman hit his second solo home run of the evening, bringing the score to 4-1 Bridgeport. York would score their second run of the night in the bottom of the seventh inning on shortstop Travis Garcia's RBI ground out but that would be the closest York would get to tying the game.

Matt Iannazzo started for Bridgeport but saw his night end early due to the rain delay despite throwing four scoreless innings. Tim Gustafson (1-3) picked up the win in relief, striking out three batters in one and two-thirds innings pitched while Winston Abreu converted his 13th save of the season, pitching a scoreless ninth inning. York's starting pitcher Charlie Thurman (3-3) earned the loss, allowing three runs off five hits in five innings pitched.

The 'Fish return to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard after the Atlantic League All-Star Break on Friday, July 18th to begin a four-game series against the Somerset Patriots, with first pitch at 7:05pm.
