The NASL Is Back: Carolina V. Indy NASL's Match of the Week Live

July 10, 2014 - North American Soccer League (NASL) News Release

NEW YORK, NY (July 10, 2014) - Following a mid-season break to honor the World Cup, the North American Soccer League (NASL) returns to action highlighted by Carolina RailHawks welcoming Indy Eleven to WakeMed Soccer Park in the NASL 'Match of the Week' broadcast live on ESPN3, Saturday, July 12, at 7:30 pm ET. Carolina is looking to continue their momentum into the 2014 Fall Campaign when they put their 18-game regular season home unbeaten streak on the line Saturday night.

ESPN's live, multi-screen sports network is accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and streamed on televisions through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

Soccer fans around the world will also be able to 'Watch Every Match Live' throughout the 2014 NASL Fall Season including Week 1 venues in Carolina, Edmonton, Fort Lauderdale, New York, and Tampa Bay at NASLLive.com. Fans can purchase the full Fall Season or Monthly Subscriptions of NASLLive.com now.

The RailHawks are hosting Indy Eleven for the first time at the Triangle and the encounter will also be broadcast on NASLLive.com and locally on WRAL2 TV and radio by 99.9HD-3 The Ticket.

NASL Fall Week 1 encounters kick off with last year's NASL Soccer Bowl winners New York Cosmos welcoming San Antonio Scorpions at Hofstra University's James M. Shuart Stadium at 7 pm ET on NASLLive.com and OneWorld Sports.

New York missed capturing the Spring Title by a single point, while San Antonio finished third. Regardless, both are aiming for the remaining berths to 'The Championship' and to join Minnesota United FC in November.

Two other teams searching to improve from the Spring Season and get back in the hunt for the 'The Championship,' Tampa Bay Rowdies host Atlanta Silverbacks at Al Lang Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 pm ET. The encounter will also be shown locally on WTTA Great 38 TV as well as NASLLive.com.

Rowdies lead the head-to-head match-up against Silverbacks, however both are level in the series encounters at Al Lang Stadium. The last time both clubs faced off was on April 26, when the visiting Silverbacks posted a 3-1 victory.

Closing out Saturday's encounters, NASL Spring Champion Minnesota United FC travel to take on Fort Lauderdale Strikers at Lockhart Stadium at 7:30 pm ET. The match will be broadcast on NASLLive.com and Sofloradio.com.

Minnesota, who captured its first title since 2011 last month, has a four-game unbeaten streak and lost only once in its last 11 regular season matches. United has won the last four encounters against the Strikers including this past Spring, when the host posted 3-1 victory at NSC Stadium on May 17.

The 2014 Fall Season Week 1 concludes on Sunday, July 13, with a Canadian matchup when Ottawa Fury FC visits FC Edmonton at Commonwealth Stadium, while Clarke Stadium finishes its new field turf installation.

The first NASL match at Commonwealth Stadium since 1981 is scheduled for kickoff at 6 pm ET (4 pm MT) and will be on NASLLive.com and shown locally on City TV and on radio in Ottawa via TSN 1200.

This will be second-ever meeting in league play between Edmonton-Ottawa, however the two sides already have history together after competing at the Amway Canadian Championship. The previous league encounter took place this past Spring (May 31) with the Fury topping the visiting Eddies 1-0 at Carleton University's Keith Harris Stadium.
