Atlanta Dream Acquires Two-Time All-Star and WNBA Champion Delisha Milton-Jones from New York

ATLANTA, July 9, 2014 - The WNBA Atlanta Dream announced today that it has acquired two-time WNBA All-Star forward Delisha Milton-Jones from the New York Liberty in exchange for forward Swin Cash. Milton-Jones, a 16-year veteran, will be reunited with Dream head coach Michael Cooper, with whom she won WNBA titles in 2001 and 2002.

"Delisha is very familiar with Coach Cooper's system, fits our offensive and defensive philosophies, and brings a championship pedigree to our locker room. We thank Swin for the positive impact she has made on our team and in the Atlanta community."

Milton-Jones, a two-time WNBA All-Star (2000, 2007), is one of five players in WNBA history with more than 5,000 career points and 2,500 career rebounds. She currently ranks fifth in league history in rebounds (2,539) and steals (611), eighth in scoring (5,524) and 13th in blocks (334). She owns career averages of 11.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Milton-Jones appeared in 18 games this season with New York including a pair of starts, averaging 5.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures three times this season, including a 10-point effort in a game against the Dream June 20 in Philips Arena.

Milton-Jones was drafted fourth overall out of Florida by Los Angeles in the 1999 WNBA Draft, and played the first six seasons of her career with the Sparks, who were coached from 2000-04 by Cooper. Los Angeles amassed a record of 119-31 from 2000-04, winning two WNBA titles and finishing the regular season in first place in the West every season, with Milton-Jones averaging at least 10 points and five boards each season from 2000-03.

Cooper and Milton-Jones teamed up again in Los Angeles for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, with Milton-Jones starting 64 of 65 games and again averaging double figures both seasons, as the Sparks made two more trips to the Western Conference Finals.

Cash, a 13-year veteran in her first season with Atlanta, played in 17 games for the Dream including one start, averaging 1.5 points and 0.9 rebounds per contest.

The three-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream is in its seventh season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Dream has qualified for the playoffs in each of the past five seasons, including conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
