Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

HAGERSTOWN, MD - Mitch Walding put Lakewood ahead with a 7th inning RBI single and the BlueClaws held on for a 9-7 win over the Suns on Wednesday afternoon at Municipal Stadium.

Lakewood trailed 6-0 after the second inning and completed their second-biggest comeback win of the year - they erased a 7-0 deficit in a June 30th win at West Virginia.

The BlueClaws ended up with 13 hits - three apiece from Zach Green and Dylan Cozens and two apiece from Walding and Jose Mayorga.

The BlueClaws bullpen combined to allow one run over 7.2 innings pitched, with Scott Harris (one run in three innings) earning the win. Ulises Joaquin got his 7th save and Aaron Baker gave up just two hits over 3.1 scoreless innings in relief.

Lakewood got on the board with Andrew Pullin's two-run home run, his 7th of the season, in the 3rd inning. The BlueClaws added four runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run double from Mitch Walding, a safety squeeze from Enmanuel Serra, and an RBI single by Carlos Tocci.

The BlueClaws broke the 6-6 tie in the 5th inning on an RBI double by Dylan Cozens, giving Lakewood their first lead of the game and second of the series.

After Hagerstown tied the game in the bottom of the 6th, Walding's RBI double in the 7th gave the BlueClaws a lead.

Andrew Knapp had a base hit to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.

Cody Davis (0-1) took the loss for Hagerstown, allowing two runs in two innings of work. Lakewood starter Jesen Therrien gave up six runs in 1.2 innings pitched.

The BlueClaws finished their road trip at 2-4 and will open a series in Lakewood on Thursday against Delmarva. RHP Jon Prosinski (2-2) throws for Lakewood against RHP Nick Cunningham (1-0).
