Bates to Replace Holland at EL All-Star Game

Harrisburg, PA - In conjunction with the Eastern League and the Altoona Curve, Colin Bates has been selected to replace Neil Holland on the Western Division All-Star team due to Holland's promotion to Syracuse. Bates joins Michael Taylor and Cutter Dykstra as the representatives for the Senators in the Eastern League All-Star Game, which will take place on July 16 at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona, Pa.

Colin Bates (0-1, 4.11) Despite starting only one game, Bates is the Senators leader in innings pitched this season. As the primary long relief option for Harrisburg, Bates has pitched more than two innings in 13 of his 23 appearances. The right-hander has demonstrated outstanding control, walking only eight batters in 57 innings this season. The longest outing of 2014 for Bates came on June 23, when he pitched five scoreless innings of relief against Richmond. Bates was a 23rd round selection of the Nationals in the 2010 draft from the University of North Carolina.

The Senators box office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available via telephone during the same hours as the box office hours. Tickets are also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, online at www.senatorsbaseball.com.
