Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.- The Las Vegas 51s scored six unanswered runs from the fifth inning on and beat the Reno Aces, 6-2 Tuesday night at Aces Ballpark.
The 51s scored one run in the fifth and sixth innings, and four in the seventh, to complete the comeback and even the series at one game a piece.
Mark Trumbo opened the scoring for Reno in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run to deep left field. It was Trumbo's second home run in as many games for the Aces.
Garrett Weber doubled the lead in the fourth inning with an RBI single up the middle that scored Trumbo from third base.
The 51s finally pushed a run across in the fifth, when Anthony Seratelli drove in Brendan Allen on a single to center. Matt Reynolds drove home Matt den Dekker with a single in the sixth inning to tie the game at two.
Las Vegas took the lead for good in the seventh, when they scored four runs, capped by Cory Vaughn's pinch-hit three-run homer to left field.
The Aces got runners on base in each of the final three innings, but failed to capitalize. They finished the night 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position.
Charles Brewer put in a strong start for the Aces, despite taking the loss. He went 6 1/3 innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and struck out five. He hasn't walked a batter in his last two starts since being called up from Double-A Mobile.
Trumbo went 3-for-4 with the solo home run and two runs scored on the night. In two games for the Aces, he is 4-for-8 with two home runs, five RBIs, and four runs scored.
The teams will meet again tomorrow night in game three of the four-game set. Reno will send southpaw Andrew Chafin (2-3, 6.19) to the mound, and Las Vegas will counter with left-hander Darin Gorski (2-2, 3.97). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
