Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, Michigan (July 7th) - The United States Hockey League (USHL) has announced that the Muskegon Lumberjacks are making their second consecutive appearance on the East Coast in the USHL Atlantic Challenge slated for September 5-7th at the brand new Twin Rinks Ice Center of Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York and is being hosted by the Long Island Gulls and New York Bobcats youth and junior hockey organizations.
This year's Atlantic Challenge features four teams in the Lumberjacks, Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Lincoln Stars, and USNTDP Under-18 Team. Muskegon and Cedar Rapids are the two returning teams from last year's inaugural USHL Atlantic Challenge, while Lincoln and the USNTDP Under-18 Team are making their first appearance in the preseason showcase.
Below is the complete schedule for the 2014 USHL Atlantic Challenge (all game times are in Eastern Standard Time):

The newly-constructed Twin Rinks Ice Center is a 165,000 square foot hockey and entertainment facility that opened this past March with two NHL-sized ice surfaces along with dedicated off-ice fitness and training areas. In addition, the building is home to Ferraro Brothers Hockey development camps and clinics that are owned and operated by Chris and Peter Ferraro, former USHL alumni and part-owners of the Lumberjacks.
The Atlantic Challenge is the largest exhibition of USHL talent outside the league's Midwest-based footprint that provides fans, players, and scouts in the East Coast region a first-hand look at what the nation's only Tier I junior league has to offer. Last year, the inaugural event attracted numerous NHL and NCAA Division I scouts.
In conjunction with the USHL preseason games, the Atlantic Challenge features an invitational tournament for some of the region's top Under-16, Under-18, and Tier III youth and junior programs. Additional information on that tournament can be found later this summer.
