Boise Hawks News Release

BOISE, Idaho - Chesny Young went 3-for-3 with three runs scored to lead a 15-hit Boise attack, as the Hawks knocked off the Eugene Emeralds, 10-5, at Memorial Stadium.

The 14th-round pick out of Mercer had a big two-run double in the seventh inning that broke open a 7-5 lead, as Boise claimed the three-game series from the Ems.

The Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two frames - as Danny Canela delivered a two-out RBI single in the first, with Jeffrey Baez and Rashad Crawford adding back-to-back two-out RBI singles in the second.

Eugene answered with three of their own in the third, getting RBI doubles from both Marcus Davis and Yale Rosen to tie the score.

Boise took the lead for good in the fourth, as a Crawford RBI single broke the deadlock and Mark Zagunis followed with an RBI single that made it 6-3.

It was enough for the Boise bullpen, as three pitchers combined to allow just two runs on four hits, fanning nine over five innings to stymie the Ems hitters. Josh Davis picked up his first win of the season, tossing two scoreless frames.

Crawford finished the night going 3-for-5 with three RBI, with Baez, Zagunis, and Justin Marra each logging two hits.

After tomorrow's scheduled league-wide off day, Boise plays host to first-place Hillsboro in a three-game series starting Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
