FC Kansas City News Release

CHICAGO (July 3, 2014) - FC Kansas City goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart was voted the Army National Guard Player of the Month by the media for the month of June of the 2014 NWSL season.

The U.S. international went 4-0-0 without conceding a goal in four games for the Blues during the month to help power FCKC to a perfect 5-0-0 record in June and extend the team's current winning streak to six games - and it's unbeaten run to eight matches.

Barnhart, 32, made 12 saves over four games in the month - including a three-save effort against Portland Thorns FC on June 28 at Verizon Wireless Field in Kansas City, Mo. to extend her current shutout streak to five games.

The Stanford product has not allowed a goal in the last 495 minutes since Seattle Reign FC midfielder Kim Little converted a penalty kick against her in a 1-1 home draw on May 21.

The Gilbertsville, Pa. native's four clean sheets in June pushed her season total to a league best seven shutouts - three more than her closest competitor, Seattle Reign FC goalkeeper and fellow U.S. international Hope Solo (four shutouts).

Barnhart, the 2013 NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year, is the third FC Kansas City player to be voted the NWSL Player of the Month - joining midfielders Lauren Holiday and Erika Tymrak, who claimed the honor last season.

FC Kansas City returns to action Sunday, July 6 at 6 p.m. ET against Sky Blue FC at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J.

The Army National Guard Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
