Glens Falls Dragons News Release

Glens Falls: The Eagles went back to their winning ways as they swept a doubleheader from Watertown by scores of 4-0 and 3-1.

The Eagles rode fantastic starts by Ben Brown (Coker) and Mike Harrington (Herkimer CC) to guide them to victory.

Watertown's starters Mitch Sewald (Louisiana State) and Anthony Magovney (Buffalo) were great in their own rights but their offense couldn't pick them up.

In game one Sewald and Brown threw zero after zero on the scoreboard and set a blistering pace as the game finished in an hour and a half. Mitch Sewald threw 6 innings allowing 4 earned runs on 5 hits while whiffing 6 batters.

The lone bump in the road for Sewald was the 5th inning when the Eagles scored 4 runs. John Lynn (Wagner) got the scoring started with a single that brought in Robert Fajardo (Marshall). The big damage came off the bat of JQ Folena (Cabrillo) who brought 2 home with a bases loaded single to left center.

Ben Brown would pitch 7 innings and allow only 3 hits while striking out 2 batters

In game 2 Glens Falls' Mike Harrington would work with the lead after the first frame as Danny Oliveri (Triton) would come around to score on a wild pitch.

The Rams would tie the game in the top of the 6th when Shane Servoss (Skagitt Valley CC) would lead off the inning with a broken bat single up the middle. Servoss would eventually score when he stole third and the throw skipped past third basemen Billy Quirke (Triton) and the Rams dugout broke into cheers.

The Eagles would answer right back in the bottom half of the inning as JQ Folena would single up the middle with one out and consecutive walks to Brennan Price (Felician) and Brian Fay (Siena) loaded the bases for Mike Bradshaw (Hofstra). Bradshaw hit a weak dribbler down the first base line and reliever Jake Sale (Parkland) couldn't get the ball to first base in time and the throw would skip away allowing the second run to score.

Watertown will look to get their revenge when the two teams play in Watertown on July 5th.
