Rawhide Host Childhood Cancer Research Fundraiser
July 2, 2014 - California League (CalL1)
Visalia Rawhide News Release
VISALIA--On Friday, July 11, Rawhide fans will have the opportunity to "Go Bald for St. Baldricks" in an effort to raise awareness and fight childhood cancer.
In July of 2012, the Rawhide hosted a night to support Olly, a two-year-old who was battling Histocytosis (a rare cancer and auto-immune disease hybrid). Now, exactly two years later, Olly is in remission, and the Rawhide are hosting a fundraiser that will benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation and give children like Olly the chance to conquer childhood cancer.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives. Their signature head-shaving events not only raise funds for this research, but they also support children who often lose their hair during treatment.
On the 11th, Recreation Ballpark gates will open at 6:00pm. After the first pitch, fans can volunteer to have their head shaved by buying raffle tickets to support the fundraiser. The head-shaving will take place throughout the game on the right field concourse.
