D.C. United News Release

Washington, D.C. (July 1, 2014) - D.C. United today announced that the club and Cristian Fernandez have mutually agreed on the termination of his contract.

"Cristian was unhappy living in the United States and we have decided it was in everyone's best interest to release the player from his contract," said D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper. "We wish him all the best at his next club."

Fernandez, who joined the club on February 7, started 15 games for the Black-and-Red and recorded one assist. The Spanish product began his career with his hometown club Racing Santander playing for its reserve team in 2003 before earning promotion to its first team in 2007. He moved to Almeria in Spain's second division for the 2012-2013 season before leaving the club in December of 2013.
