June 30, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release

Evansville, Indiana- Evansville IceMen Team Owner Ron Geary has announced that team captain Josh Beaulieu will retire and assume a new role as the team's assistant coach.

"After three wonderful years playing for us in Evansville, this is a natural progression for Josh to begin his coaching career with us," said Ron Geary. "I'm sure he will be of great assistance to our new coach Dwight Mullins as Josh is very familiar with both the organization and the city."

The 27 year old native of Comber, Ontario will be forever etched in Evansville pro hockey lore, history, and immortality as he scored the first-ever goal in Ford Center hockey history at 2:42 of the first period in the IceMen's home opening night 3-1 victory over their principal archrivals, the Fort Wayne Komets, on November 5th, 2011. A former fifth round draft choice of the NHL Philadelphia Flyers in the 2005 Entry Draft, Josh played three seasons in Evansville, playing in 159 games and scoring 58 goals & 68 assists for 126 points.

Prior to joining the IceMen, Beaulieu played junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights. In 2007-08 he played the first of three seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers American Hockey League affiliate. During the 2010-11 season, Josh played in the Central Hockey League for the Rapid City Rush before joining Evansville during the summer of 2011. His professional career shows him playing in 360 games, scoring 75 goals & 89 assists for 164 points.

"I want to thank Ron Geary for this terrific opportunity," Josh Beaulieu said. "I look forward to working with and learning from Dwight Mullins and look forward to getting the IceMen our first ECHL playoff appearance."

Beaulieu's #20 will be retired later this season. Make sure you have your 2014-2015 season tickets to watch Beaulieu on the bench!
