Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm gave the Sioux Falls Arena the perfect farewell Saturday night. The Sioux Falls Storm (15-1) defeated the Nebraska Danger (11-5) Saturday night by a score of 63-46 to claim their 8th championship, their 4th in a row.
After a very tight first half that saw the two teams trade back and forth blows, the Storm found a way to slow down the fast-paced Danger offense.
With the first half winding down James Dunlap of the Storm managed to swing the momentum with a 15-yard fumble recovery to set up a Storm touchdown with seconds left.
After being awarded with Offensive Player of the Year in the opening ceremonies Chris Dixon went on to have a performance for the record books. Dixon tossed for 157 yards on 14 of 22 passing attempts. Dixon was responsible for 8 touchdowns on the night, 6 through the air and another 2 on the ground.
James Terry lives for the post season. Terry was a huge target throughout the night for Dixon and was on the receiving end of 5 touchdowns on the night and picked up another one via the ground. Early in the fourth quarter Terry had a spectacular diving touchdown via the Chris Dixon lateral to all but seal the deal for the Storm.
Tyler Knight, recipient of another Defensive Player of the Year award, held a shaky Storm defense together Saturday night. Knight recorded 12 tackles and 1 sack in the Storm victory and managed to be in the right place at the right time more than a handful of times. As a unit the Storm defense recorded 2 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 fumble on the night.
The United Bowl victory Saturday night marks the end of an era for the Storm in the Sioux Falls Arena, but they made sure to make it a memorable one. The Storm finish their 15 year tenure in the Arena with an all-time record of 112-14, and Saturday night's victory slated the 42nd win in a row for the Storm in the Arena.
