Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets would like to congratulate Ryan Huska on his appointment as the new head coach of the Calgary Flames' American Hockey League team, the Adirondack Flames.
Huska was announced as the head coach of the Flames AHL team this morning after seven seasons as the head coach of the Kelowna Rockets.
"I'm thrilled for him and I think this is long overdue," said Rockets President/GM Bruce Hamilton. "This is an opportunity Ryan has deserved for many years. He's done a wonderful job for us and we will be his biggest fans."
After retiring as a player, Huska began working as an assistant coach with the Rockets in 2002-03. He took over as head coach in 2007-08 and since that time, has established himself as one of the top coaches in the CHL.
His teams never finished below .500 in Kelowna as he amassed 303 regular season wins, including back to back franchise records of 52 and 57 wins that past two years.
The Rockets are holding a press conference at 1 p.m. today at Prospera Place where Huska will be in attendance, along with Bruce Hamilton and Rockets assistant coach Dan Lambert.
